This was easily one of my favourite nights at Going Om…
Come share the magic with me every Thursday (9pm) and Saturday (11.30pm)!
Can I just say that greed is the most unattractive quality in people? I really hope the lovely place that I call ‘Home’ will be able to conquer all the obstacles of being a “small player“. Going Om is a small player because Going Om has a simple mission – to have a place for people to hide away from the real world for the time that they’re there. Going Om is the place where people learn to love each other regardless of race, language, or religion. Sound familiar? First, the shisha ban, which took away a large chunk of its income then there’s the ridiculous restriction of live music and outdoor seating for the bar. See, Going Om is not interested in being a money making machine. And anyone who has been there will see that the beauty in Going Om is the way it makes everyone feel special and always be able to make every one feel like they belong.
I was brought up to believe that everyone and every place has a price tag and people are quantifiable by money.
Well… Going Om taught me to share – I never knew how to share. Ask my sisters, they can attest to that. It taught me to love people regardless of how much money they have in their bank account. Money is only paper and ink unless we know how to use it. Words are only words unless they inspire people to be better. And music, music is only noise unless it connects people. Going Om does all these things seamlessly and through it, taught me lessons my Sunday school classes never taught me simply ‘cos Going Om lives this. Whatever the problem, big or small, love is the only thing that matters.
We can survive anything ‘cos we got love. Love conquers all and Going Om is where love is, where my heart is.
Going Om is my home.
Yep. It’s taken 8 years for me to put this onto iTunes. Good things happen to those who wait especially after they’ve procrastinated long enough to make something happen. So, this is pretty exciting. One of my favourite songs from the last album is now available on iTunes as a single! (Digital album available here.) It will soon be made available on GooglePlay and Amazon for non-Apple users. Oh, and of course, Spotify.
So I’m in a pretty good mood today cos the stars are clearly aligned. Also, I will be singing at Going Om tonight from 23:45 (GMT +8).
I will also be at Going Om for a bit tomorrow night to join the other musicians for Going Om’s Let’s Help Nepal event. There will be street yoga and other Himalayan inspired goodness in the day and music in the night. There’s no better way to spend a Sunday than to spend it doing good.
Just in case you’re interested, my dubsmash addiction is still going on strong – 2 days in. I’ve made a couple more videos last night and I shall leave you with the one I did out of the love for my favourite music, RENT.

Now listening to: Roz Firth’s Passing Eyes.
There’s been a bunch of stuff that’s going on. 2015 is looking really good at the moment and I have a feeling it can only get better. In the meantime, I’m ready for anything that comes my way. :)
Last Sunday, I did a gig at The Local People weekend market held at the Singapore Art Museum last week and that was so much fun that I’m going to do it again in February! It’s no secret that musicians have a life long love for alcohol and the beer they were serving was a life saver for the musician who was hungover under the hot sun on a Sunday. The name of the beer pretty much defines its very goodness – Wunderbar. A little bird told me that I’ll be able to revisit the same German goodness at my next gig with The Local People and I have to say I’m really excited about it. Shall post more details about it when I get it. Do check out The Local People for those updates.
Performing at the Singapore Art Museum was really special to me ‘cos the last time I did a show there was… 15 years ago! Back when I was still an eager and bright-eyed theatre student. We did a mime to the music of Enigma. ENIGMA! That’s how long ago that was.
Also… I have uploaded a new video on YouTube and I hope you’ve seen it, liked it and shared it. It’s a cover of my new favourite emo song. A little number by Sam Smith called “Stay With Me”.
Upcoming gigs include one at the Esplanade Concourse on the 9th and 10th of February.
2 sets each day at 19:15 and 20:15. It’s a Monday and Tuesday, and I’m looking forward to doing some public alcohol drinking while I’m there. :p
I’ll be doing the song above and some originals with my beatboxer, Lil E and it’s going to be wicked.
Do come by and make sure you bring someone special to share the music with. Oh, and do say HI! *waves*

P.S., I’m a little amused that Esplanade decided to use a really old picture of me. hahaha!
I fell in love with this Tamglish (Tamil + English) song the moment I heard it and I’ve been covering it for gigs for a little over two years now. This upload is long overdue. Enjoy!
This is the version that I did with Zicmu the beatboxer. More to come!
